History
Seeds of this company were sown in the 1980s, during the founder's sojourn from Bhilai, a little town in central part of India, to Chicago, as a graduate student. Whilst in the US, he wondered how to combine the sense of individual-independence & technology-based material prosperity of the USA with the sense of emotional-interdependence prevalent in every Indian household.
Alternate Approaches was created as a strategic knowledge-company, to empower new breed shubh-labh entrepreneurs, by Tulsi Tawari in 1997 from Mumbai. In 2000, as a strategic advisor to KVIC (Khadi & Village Industries Commission), an umbrella institution of the Government of India, nurturing over 5000 village enterprises across the countryside, contributing to policy-based interventions for production to sales. In 2005, under accreditation of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the premier national scientific institute, launched a healthcare radiation-safety enterprise, Ultra-Tech Labs, catering to needs of about 8,000 institutions, covering 75,000 individuals, across 20 states in India. Currently Alternate Approaches is engaged in grooming entrepreneurs engaged in Electronics & IT, Agriculture and Management Systems, across all levels.
Networked with over 100 closely-knit professionals and entrepreneurs, with proven lifelong commitment to intellectual integrity in business practises, Alternate Approaches launched this new initiative in 2020, with the goal to empower pioneering shubh-labh entrepreneurs, at all levels of economy. Major thrust areas: Food & Nutrition, Preventive Healthcare, Customized Education, New-age 5-T technologies, and Nature-compatible Habitats.

He has previously taught at Columbia University and Williams College in the US, Queen’s University in Canada, University of Warwick, UK, and Delhi School of Economics, Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in India. He has published 32 books with major international publishers and more than 150 papers in leading scientific journals and other refereed outlets.
